Paul Smith
Paul has been training in the martial arts for over 35 years, including training with Grandmaster Yip Ching in Hong Kong. He has been teaching Wing Chun since 1991 and is a qualified instructor in several Filipino Martial Arts and Karate. He currently holds a number of degrees, including:
- 4th Degree Black Sash, Wing Chun
- 1st Degree Black Belt, Rapid Arnis (Chief Instructor, Scotland)
- 1st Degree Black Belt, Doce Pares (Chief Instrucor, Scotland)
- 1st Dan, Shotokan Karate
- Chief Instructor for Bakabakan Kali Ilustrisimo, Scotland
- Member of the Philippine Council of Kali, Eskrima and Arnis Masters
He has also won a variety of national and world titles, such as:
- World Champion, Doce Pares World Challenge Championships
- Two-time British Chi Sau Champion
- British Champion, Full-Contact Double Stick Fighting
- British Champion, Full-Contact Single Stick Fighting
- 5 British titles in full-contact fighting
- Silver Medal at the 1st Invitational World Arnis Championships
- Several times Boxing Champion, British Army
Paul is also well-experienced with the world of fitness, having trained as a Physical Training Instructor in the British Army, designing and running kickboxing-for-fitness classes, especially for schools, and, most impressively, winning the Mr. Scotland Body Building Competition for his class in 2004.
Paul trains under Grand Master Samuel Kwok in Wing Chun, Tuhon Pat O'Malley in Rapid Arnis, and Punong Guro Peter Lewis in Bakbakan Kali Ilustrisimo. He has also trained with and under a number of world-renowned martial artists, such as: Grand Masters Yip Ching and Yip Chun; Antonio Diego; GM Dionisio Canete; GM Danny Guba; Master Albert Sales; Master Jose 'Joe' Borces; Master Percival 'Val' Pableo; Master Rey Galang; Carlson Gracie; Royce Gracie; Gary Spears; Sensei Enoeda, and Sensei Kawazoe.
THERAPIES
Paul has also studied a number of different therapies to treat physiological and psychological conditions, including Reiki, Sport and Swedish Massage, Reflexology and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) which can be used, among other things, to improve sports performance.
