Wallbag Training Tips

The wallbag, in my opinion, is the most effective piece of training equipment you can use in order to develope REAL punching power. Certainly works for me.

The most important thing to remember when using the wallbag is to Never lock your elbows out when hitting it. The rebounding force will damage your muscles as well as your tendons.

1) Start from a straight arm position then move a little closer so that your elbow is then slightly bent. Do single punches as hard as you can. 20 each arm is a good start. Move up to 2 punches then 3 punches. 3's enough. You can do more if you like, no need, save your energy for the rest of the work-out.

2) Stand a little bit closer again, maybe a couple of inches. Repeat as above.

3) This time get as close as you would be to someone in a pub or club. Head-butting range. For this drill punch the middle section of the wallbag, body shot. Only use single shots for this drill because your follow up shots would be to the head.

4) Stand with your arm straight, fist flat against the bag. From this position punch the wallbag using single turning punches. DO NOT LOCK-OUT YOUR ELBOWS. Be aware of proper turning. Ensure that your feet turn and not just your body. Make sure you punch straight as the wallbag will soon let you know if you aren't by taking all the skin off your knuckles.

Always use Dit Da Jow (iron palm linament) before and after wallbag training. See Rory for this.

Hope this is of help to you all. Any questions, just ask.

Train hard or go home! But train safe guys.

All the best in your training.
